Privacy Policy

What you type is never saved or sent.
Speed and accuracy are worked out entirely on your device.
What you type and your keyboard
The app reads keyboard input only while the practice screen is open, to compare it with the target text. What you type is discarded when the session ends. It is never saved on the device, sent to a server, or used for ads. The app does not read key presses outside the practice screen.
What stays on your device
When you finish a session, the app records on your device the date and time, the kind of practice (keys, words, short or long text), the language, the input method (keyboard or on-screen), the sentence pack and item, the time taken, speed, accuracy, number of mistakes and mistakes per key. The text you typed is not recorded. The app also stores your settings such as language and text size, the sentence packs you unlocked, and the dates and count of full-screen ads shown. Report card PDFs and share cards are kept briefly in the app cache so you can save or share them, and are deleted when you open the app after 1 hour or once they exceed 50 MB in total.
Backup
So that your history follows you to a new device, practice history and settings are included in Android Auto Backup. Backups are stored encrypted in your Google account and we cannot see them. You can turn this off in Android Settings > Google > Backup.
Accounts
There are no accounts. We never ask for an email address or phone number, and there is no sign-in or sign-up. There is no payment feature in the app.
Ads
This app is supported by ads served by Google AdMob. In the process, Google collects your advertising ID (AAID), IP address, device information, and ad-related usage (how often ads were shown or tapped). Your IP address may be used to estimate a rough, country-level location. What you type and your practice history are never used for ads or sent to Google. See Google's policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
When you see ads
No ads while you practice. After you finish a text, a full-screen ad may appear once; it will not appear again for a while, and never after the key drills. You watch one ad to save or share a report card, and one to unlock an extra sentence pack, and the button tells you before you tap it. A small banner sits at the bottom of the home and history screens.
Turning off personalized ads
In Android Settings > Privacy > Ads you can delete your advertising ID or turn off personalization. Ads will still appear, but they will not be personalized.
Permissions
The app uses only the internet connection, to load ads and send usage statistics. It does not ask for storage, camera, contacts, location, or microphone access. When you save a report card, it writes only to the location you choose.
Usage statistics
To improve the app and place ads sensibly, we collect usage statistics with Google Analytics for Firebase: how often and how long the app is used, which features are used (for example, which kind of practice you finished, or whether you watched an ad to save), ad impressions, device model, OS version, app version, country and language, plus a random per-install identifier and your advertising ID. What you type and your practice results such as speed and accuracy are not sent. We also use Firebase Remote Config to change ad settings without an app update, which sends the app version, OS version, country and language. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, nothing that identifies your device is stored unless you consent.
Third parties
Apart from Google AdMob and Google Analytics for Firebase (see Usage statistics) we use no other analytics or crash reporting, and no external service can see what you type.
Children
Typing Practice is not directed at children under 13. The app does not send what you type anywhere, but when ads are shown Google AdMob collects an advertising ID, IP address, and device information. That is why this app is not built for children.
Deleting your data
You can delete your practice history in the app under Settings > Delete all history, and uninstalling removes history, settings and cache. Copies in Auto Backup can be deleted in Android Settings > Google > Backup. Saved report cards are wherever you chose to save them, and you can delete them there. No copy remains on any server. You can delete your advertising ID yourself in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads.
There is nothing for us to delete
This app has no server holding your data. History on your device disappears when you delete it in the app or uninstall, and backups and your advertising ID are held by Google, so we can neither look them up nor delete them. Rather than offer to delete data on your behalf, we have written down above how to remove it yourself. Questions: dev@indieway.xyz
