The tags of the MP3 and FLAC files you choose are read and edited on this device only.

There is no sign-in, and files, song details and album art are not sent to a server, ads or statistics. Songs are not recognized online.

Files stay on your device

Tags such as title, artist, album, lyrics and album art in the MP3 and FLAC files you choose are read and edited on this device only. Files and song details are not sent to a server or used for ads or usage statistics. There are no online features such as song recognition or downloading lyrics or album art. Editing works without an internet connection.

Receiving and changing files

The app reads only the files you choose in the Android file picker, the files you open with this app from your file manager, and the files you send to it from another app with Share. It does not use a permission to read all your storage. An original file is changed only when you picked it in the file picker and tap Save to the original file. Files received from another app can only be saved as a new file. The sound part of a file is never changed.

Undo copies

When you save to the original file, a copy of the original is kept in the app's private storage for up to 7 days so you can undo, and then deleted. If the copies take more than 1 GB, the oldest are deleted first. If a save stopped partway, the copy is kept until you restore or discard it. These copies are not included in auto backup or device transfer.

What stays on your device

Files from places that cannot be read directly, such as cloud drives, are copied briefly to the app cache so they can be opened, and the copy is deleted after an hour. Files you pick with Open music files are kept in the Recent list with their name and format. Settings such as theme and language are stored on the device too. The Recent list cannot be opened on another device, so it is not included in auto backup or device transfer.

Album art

For album art, the app reads only the one picture you choose in the Android photo picker. It does not use a permission to access all your photos.

Account

There is no account. The app does not ask for an email or phone number, and there is no sign-in, sign-up or in-app purchase.

Ads

This app is supported by ads. Google AdMob serves the ads, and in doing so the advertising ID (AAID), IP address, device information, app performance diagnostics (such as launch time and hangs) and ad-related app activity (such as ads viewed and tapped) are collected by and shared with Google. An approximate location (country level) may be derived from the IP address. Your music files and song details are not used for ads and are not shared. Ads are limited to content rated T (Teen) or below. See Google's policy for details (policies.google.com/technologies/ads).

When ads appear

There are no ads while you open and edit songs or save one song. An ad may play once when you save several songs at once, and the app tells you before you tap. After you watch one, no more ads appear until you close those songs. If the ad cannot be loaded, the songs are saved without it. A small banner appears at the bottom of the home screen.

Turning off ad personalization

In Android Settings → Privacy → Ads, you can delete the advertising ID or turn off personalization. Ads will still appear, but they will not be personalized.

Permissions

The ads and statistics SDKs use internet access, network state and advertising ID related permissions, to load ads and send usage statistics. None of them asks you for approval. This app has no permission that you are asked to approve. It does not ask for storage, all music and audio, all photos, camera, microphone, contacts, location or notification permission.

Usage statistics

To improve the app and place ads appropriately, the app collects usage statistics with Google Analytics for Firebase. This includes how often the app is opened and for how long, whether an ad notice was shown and the ad was watched, ad impressions, whether help or contact in settings was tapped, device model, OS version, app version, country and language, and a random identifier assigned to each app install along with the advertising ID. File names, song details and album art are not sent. The app also uses Firebase Remote Config to change ad settings without an app update, which sends app version, OS version, country and language. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, information that identifies the device is not stored unless you consent.

Third parties

Other than Google AdMob and Google Analytics for Firebase (see Usage statistics above), the app uses no other analytics tools or crash reporters. No outside service receives your files or song details.

What the app cannot do

Only MP3 (ID3v2.2, 2.3, 2.4 and ID3v1) and FLAC can be edited. M4A, OGG, Opus, WAV and WMA are not opened. Tags stored in unusual ways (compressed, encrypted, unsynchronized and so on) can only be viewed, so nothing is lost. The app does not recognize songs, download tags or edit sound.

Children

MP3 Tag Editor is not intended for children under 13, because Google AdMob collects the advertising ID, IP address and device information when ads are shown.

Deleting data

Uninstalling the app deletes the Recent list, undo copies and settings. Music files you changed and new files you saved are your files and stay as they are. We keep no copy on a server. You can delete the advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

There is nothing we can delete

This app has no server that stores user data. Records on the device disappear when you uninstall the app, and the advertising ID is held by Google, so we cannot look it up or delete it. If you have questions, contact dev@indieway.xyz.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, this page will be updated with a new date. Contact: dev@indieway.xyz. If you email us through Contact us in the app, we use your email address, your message, and the app and device details added at the end of the message (app version, Android version, device model, app language, theme and font size) only to reply to you.
