Privacy Policy

last updated: 2026-09-16

Your documents never leave your device.

Opening and converting to PDF both happen on device.

Documents

Documents you open are processed entirely on your device. We never upload them, read their contents, or store them anywhere. PDF conversion runs in an on-device engine. The app only accesses files you pick and does not request broad storage permission.

What stays on your device

Converted pages are cached on device so files reopen quickly. The cache is trimmed oldest-first once it passes 300MB. Names and locations of recently opened documents are also stored on device only. All of it is removed when you uninstall the app.

Accounts

There are no accounts. We do not collect your name, email, or phone number. There is no sign-in or sign-up.

Advertising

This app is supported by ads. Google AdMob serves them, and in the process your advertising ID (AAID), IP address, device information, and ad-related app activity (such as how many ads you saw and whether you tapped one) are collected by and shared with Google. Your IP address can be used to estimate coarse location at the country level. Document contents and file names are never used for ads and are never transmitted. See policies.google.com/technologies/ads for details.

When ads appear

No ads are shown while you read a document. You watch an ad when saving or sharing as PDF, and we tell you before it starts. A small banner sits at the bottom of the start screen.

Opting out of personalized ads

In Android Settings → Privacy → Ads you can delete your advertising ID or turn off personalization. Ads will still appear, but they will not be personalized.

Permissions

Only internet access, used to fetch ads. We do not request camera, contacts, location, or microphone permissions.

Third parties

Apart from Google AdMob we use no analytics or crash reporting, and no external service can see your documents.

Children

HWP Viewer is not directed at children under 13. The app itself does not ask for personal information such as your name or email, but when ads are shown Google AdMob collects an advertising ID, IP address, and device information. That is why this app is not built for children. See the Advertising section above for details.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling the app removes the cache and recent-document list. No copy remains on any server. You can delete your advertising ID yourself in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads.

There is nothing for us to delete

This app has no server holding your data. The on-device cache and recent-document list disappear when you uninstall, and your advertising ID is held by Google, so we can neither look it up nor delete it. Rather than offer to delete data on your behalf, we have written down above how to remove it yourself. Questions: dev@indieway.xyz
