Searches and your dream diary are handled and stored only on this device.
There is no sign-in, and your searches and diary are never sent anywhere.
Dream diary
Your dream diary is stored only on this device. The date, what you wrote, the feeling you picked, the meanings you attached and when you wrote or edited it are kept in the app's storage and never sent to a server. Drafts are saved on the device while you write so they are not lost, and are removed when you save or discard. If you export your diary, the text goes to the app you choose.
Search and meanings
Searches run against the dictionary built into the app. Your search words or dream sentences are never sent to a server or used for statistics or ads. The meanings are text included in the app, not generated on the fly by AI.
Requesting a meaning
If a meaning is missing and you tap Request this dream, your email app opens with your search words in the message. You decide whether to send it; the app never sends email itself. We use such emails only to grow the dictionary and to reply.
What stays on your device
Besides your diary and drafts, the app stores your favorites, recently viewed meanings (up to 50), and the dates and count of full-screen ads shown. Share cards are kept briefly in the app cache so you can save or share them, and are deleted the next time you open the app.
Share cards
A share card contains the title and text of the meaning you chose. You choose where to share it; the app never sends it anywhere itself.
Backup
So that they follow you to a new device, your diary and settings such as favorites and recent meanings are included in Android Auto Backup. If device backup is on, they are stored encrypted in your Google account and we cannot see them. You can turn this off in Android Settings > Google > Backup.
Accounts
There are no accounts. We never ask for an email address or phone number, and there is no sign-in or sign-up. There is no payment feature in the app.
Ads
This app is supported by ads served by Google AdMob. In the process, Google collects your advertising ID (AAID), IP address, device information, and ad-related usage (how often ads were shown or tapped). Your IP address may be used to estimate a rough, country-level location. Your searches and diary are never used for ads or sent to Google. See Google's policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
When you see ads
Meanings, the combined reading and your diary open right away without ads. After you have read several meanings, a full-screen ad may appear when you go back to a list; once shown it will not appear again for 3 minutes, and no more than 4 times a day. One ad is shown when you save or share a share card as an image, and the button tells you before you tap it. If the ad cannot load or you skip waiting, you continue without it. A small banner sits at the bottom of the search home and the category, collection and library lists, never on meaning or diary screens.
Turning off personalized ads
In Android Settings > Privacy > Ads you can delete your advertising ID or turn off personalization. Ads will still appear, but they will not be personalized.
Permissions
The app uses the internet connection and the advertising ID, to load ads and send usage statistics. It does not ask for camera, photo, storage, contacts, location, microphone or notification access.
Usage statistics
To improve the app and place ads sensibly, we collect usage statistics with Google Analytics for Firebase: how often and how long the app is used, which features are used (for example, searching by word or by dream sentence, opening a meaning, saving a diary entry), ad impressions, device model, OS version, app version, country and language, plus a random per-install identifier and your advertising ID. Search words, the meanings you read and diary text are not sent. We also use Firebase Remote Config to change ad settings without an app update, which sends the app version, OS version, country and language. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, nothing that identifies your device is stored unless you consent.
Third parties
Apart from Google AdMob and Google Analytics for Firebase (see Usage statistics) we use no other analytics or crash reporting, and no external service can see your diary.
Children
Dream Dictionary is not directed at children. When ads are shown Google AdMob collects an advertising ID, IP address, and device information, so this app is not built for children.
Meanings are for reference
Dream meanings are reference text summarizing traditional interpretations and a reflective view. They do not predict the future or replace health or medical advice.
Deleting your data
You can delete diary entries one by one or all at once under Settings > Delete all diary entries, and clear favorites and recent meanings in the app. Uninstalling removes the diary, settings and cache. Copies in Auto Backup can be deleted in Android Settings > Google > Backup. No copy remains on any server. You can delete your advertising ID yourself in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads.
There is nothing for us to delete
This app has no server holding your data. Records on your device disappear when you delete them in the app or uninstall, and backups and your advertising ID are held by Google, so we can neither look them up nor delete them. If you ask us to delete a meaning request email, we will delete it. Questions: dev@indieway.xyz
Changes and contact
If this policy changes we will update this page with a new date. Contact: dev@indieway.xyz. If you email us through Contact us in the app, we use your email address, your message, and the app and device details added at the end of the message (app version, Android version, device model, app language, theme and font size) only to reply to you.
