Privacy Policy

Ate is a local-first app. Ate never sends your photos or records to a server.
What we collect
Meal photos, notes, weights, and settings are stored only in a local database and the app's folder on your device, and are never sent to a server. There is no account, so we never ask for your name or email.
Photos and camera
The camera is used only when you photograph a meal. When you choose from your library, the iOS photo picker passes only the photos you pick to the app; Ate never accesses your whole library. Original photos aren't stored. Ate keeps a resized copy for your record and removes photo metadata such as location.
Ate Pro status checks
From version 1.1.0, Ate Pro (subscriptions and the Lifetime purchase) is bought and restored through the Apple App Store, and RevenueCat checks your purchase status. When the app launches, it contacts RevenueCat to check whether you have Pro and which products are for sale, even if you have never made a purchase. For this, RevenueCat receives a random anonymous user ID created by the app, your purchase history (product, purchase date, and expiration date, if you made a purchase), the app version, your device and OS type, your store country, and the time of the request. Your name, email, and payment method are handled by Apple; neither we nor RevenueCat receive them. Your photos and records are never included, and none of this is used for ads or tracking. Your IP address may reach RevenueCat's servers as part of these requests. Version 1.0.0 makes none of these requests.
Third parties
Ate uses no advertising networks, analytics tools, crash reporters, or any service that can see your photos and records. The purchase information above is handled by RevenueCat, Inc. under the RevenueCat Privacy Policy (revenuecat.com/privacy). If you turned on Share With App Developers in your device settings, Apple may collect crash information and pass it to the developer under Apple's privacy policy.
Notifications
If you turn on the morning weigh-in reminder, iOS schedules it on your device. No remote push servers are involved. Notification permission is requested only when you turn it on.
Widgets
Widgets draw the weight trend and today's meal photos the app saved on your device. What widgets show never leaves your device either.
Backup, export and import
Your records may be included in your iPhone backup. Export a zip file (photos and csv) anytime from Settings and send it wherever you choose through the iOS share sheet. Import reads a file you pick, on your device.
About health information
Ate only shows what you log. It does not give medical or dietary advice and does not connect to Apple Health (HealthKit).
Data deletion
Delete all records in Settings, or uninstall the app, to erase your photos and records from your device. No copy of your photos and records is kept on any server. The anonymous user ID and purchase history sent to RevenueCat are kept under the RevenueCat Privacy Policy for purchase verification, refunds, and accounting. To have them deleted, email dev@indieway.xyz with the order number from your App Store receipt so we can find the purchase and ask RevenueCat to delete it.
Children
Ate collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the update will appear here with a new date.
